There are 3 basic types of electric mixers. The hand mixer, which is probably the most popular, the stand mixer, and the stick mixer.

One of the biggest advantages of the hand mixer is it’s so portable. You can move it around; there is no station like with the stand mixer. You are bound only by the electric cord. Another advantage over the stand mixer is you can use multiple bowls if you are mixing several things. With a stand mixer, you have to wash out the bowl that comes with it every time you mix something different. Most hand mixers are stronger than stick mixers. And they have multiple speeds which stick mixers usually don’t have.

As for the stand mixer, it’s biggest advantage is it’s powerful motor. It is much more powerful than a hand or stick mixer. Stand mixers are great for convenience. You can turn it on and go about doing other tasks while your mixer does all the work.

Stand mixers usually have multiple beater attachments that will do different things. You can even knead bread dough. Some stand mixers even have special attachments that you can buy that will make juice, bread dough, pasta or grind meat.

But if you just want to stick with one, which mixer is best for you? And what should you look for in an electric mixer?
